 And so the 2009 MotoGP season ended with Valentino Rossi as World Champion yet again, following a year in which he won 6 races, more than any other competitor, with the Yamahas of Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo taking the number one podium at 10, out of 17, MotoGP events. Intense competition between the Yamaha team-mates, was perhaps the most exciting feature of the 2009 season's action, whilst Casey Stoner's return from illness, to victories at Phillip Island and Sepang, giving his Ducati 4 wins this year, equal with Jorge Lorenzo, confounded the Australian's critics. Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa, won twice, whilst Andrea Dovizioso's Donington Park success made Honda's 09 score, 3 victories in total.
