The first official MotoGP Test of 2012, concluded last week, at the Sepang International Circuit, with the new 1000cc machines proving to be noticeably quicker than the 800's of last year, as the riders were also able to experience Bridgestone's 2012 specification tyres, which are targeted at achieving improved warm-up performance, and enhanced rider feel.

Things were looking promising for the new season and Ducati Team, as Valentino Rossi moved up through the field to fifth fastest "combined" position at the close of play.

Loris Capirossi, who is now Safety Advisor to Dorna, is working also with Bridgestone and, on the new specification tyres, reported that rider feedback was that the 2012 rubber is very good and that "they are happy with the feeling they offer."

Leading the results table from Sepang on combined times, was Casey Stoner for Repsol Honda, with Jorge Lorenzo, Yamaha Factory Racing, second. Stoner's team-mate Dani Pedrosa came third. Fourth, was Ben Spies with YFR.
