Michelin takes the Dakar Rally motorcycle laurels
Delivering the tyre manufacturer's 29th Dakar Rally motorcycle triumph, Michelin shod KTM rider Cyril Despres stormed home to victory, at the end of an especially gruelling 2012 competition, and his fourth Dakar winner's title.
Michelin made available tyres from their Marathon, Desert, and Desert Race ranges, and Despres employed Desert Race at the rear, with Michelin Bib-Mousse, for the long "marathon" Dakar leg.
This year's event consisted of an 8391km route through Argentina, Chile and Peru, winding up at the city of Lima.
In a clean-sweep at the top, Michelin equipped machines also came second and third.
