The FIM has released an announcement regarding changes to the MotoGP World Championship 2012 provisional calendar.
The scheduled 18 races will now commence earlier, with the Qatar event being held on 8th April at Losail Circuit. 29th April at Jerez de la Frontera, in Spain, is confirmed as the second outing and, subject to final confirmation, number three will run on 6th May, at Estoril in Portugal, with Sachsenring hosting the Grand Prix of Germany, on 8th July.
17th June remains the date for the UK round, at Silverstone.
Qatar will be an evening race as usual, and the event on 30th June, at Assen in the Netherlands, is once more a Saturday race. 29th July and Laugna Seca in the USA, will only feature the MotoGP Class.
Returned from a week-long ride through Zambia, with the charity Riders for Health, is Alvaro Bautista, who joined GP racing legend Randy Mamola for the epic trip. Ending up at a place called Livingstone, near to Victoria Falls, the 18 strong team had plenty of opportunities to see the work Riders for Health does across Africa, to help a population who, according to the Spanish rider, remain cheerful and friendly despite the deprivation they experience on a day-to-day basis.
Summing up his "Experience Africa" adventure, Bautista said : "It has been very important for me to see just how important the work of Riders for Health is, and how the support of all of us in MotoGP is making a difference. It is something that I will remember for the rest of my life."
As every year recently, instead of sending Christmas cards to our many friends in the Industry, Bike Tyrestore has been proud to make a donation on behalf of all of us, to this hands-on charity, which brings hope to many who otherwise would have none. Join us, at www.riders.org
More than a quarter of a century on, it's still necessary to ask : "Do they know it's Christmas time at all ?"
