As the MotoGP World looks forward to the opening event of the 2012 season, in Qatar on 8th April, the 2011 FIM Gala Ceremony, in the Estoril Casino, was the platform for awards celebrating the achievements of the "World's best motorcyclists". 500 guests enjoyed a star-studded evening, with the presentations being made, last week, by the likes of Angel Nieto and Carl Fogarty.
Valentino Rossi has been displaying the trophy he received for finishing second in the recent Monza Rally Show, whilst Alvaro Bautista has been blogging from Africa, where he was taking part in the Riders for Health trek through Zambia, from whence he wrote, "This is my first time riding through Africa and it has been a real eye-opener. When you see how isolated the villages are and how bad the roads and tracks are, it is really obvious what an important job the motorcycles do, and how much they help the health workers."
