Last Sunday, 6th November, the 2011 MotoGP World Championship series concluded, with the Gran Premio Generali De La Comunitat Valenciana, after the last of a scheduled 18 races, one having been lost in the Premier class, due to the red-flagging, and subsequent cancellation, of its Sepang event, at the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

This year's grand finale, was preceded by a community tribute to Marco Simoncelli, which included a lap, in the Italian rider's honour, led by 1993 World Champion Kevin Schwantz, aboard "Sic's" San Carlo Honda Gresini RC212V machine.

The last race of the 2011 season was won by Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner, now World Champion in the Premier Class, despite a vigorous challenge by Ben Spies, with Yamaha Factory Racing, who finished second. Third, was Andrea Dovizioso, Repsol Honda, who confirmed his Championship position behind Jorge Lorenzo, 2011 #2.

Ducati Team riders, Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi, didn't get any further than turn one, at Valencia, but "Brit", Cal Crutchlow, Monster Yamaha Tech 3, managed to finish in fourth race slot, to take the coveted title, Rookie of the Year, at the end of his first season in MotoGP.

Kalex rider, Stefan Bradl, won the 2011 Moto2 Championship, whilst Aprilia's Nico Terol took the 125cc title.

The MotoGP World Championship 2012, commences with the COMMERCIALBANK GRAND PRIX of QATAR, on 20th March.
