Cadwell Park Superbike Thriller

As the 2011 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship enters its "Showdown" phase, with just three events remaining, last weekend's Cadwell Park event was every bit as exciting and, for at least one rider, controversial, as expected, when Swan Yamaha teamsters Tommy Hill and Michael Laverty dominated a drama packed triple header, before the top six Championship riders' points were levelled out at 500, plus
Podium credits.

Before the next outing, at Donington Park, 9 to 11 September, the top three in the Championship standings are Tommy Hill, 529, Shane Byrne, 522 and John Hopkins, 518.

The notable controversy at Cadwell Park surrounded Josh Brookes, who was excluded for an "aggressive move" in Sunday's first race, but made it through to the round three finale, finishing second.

As all the riders continue to compete on identical Pirelli Diablo Superbike slicks, technicians for the Italian tyre manufacturer were excited to see not only such close racing, but also good durability, as the fastest time of the weekend was logged on Hill's penultimate lap.
