Japanese MotoGP under threat

The Grand Prix Of Japan is scheduled to be held on 2nd October, and minor repairs due to earthquake damage at Motegi are said to be well under way.

The Twin Ring Motegi circuit, however, is situated not far from the areas affected by radiation, following the disaster in March, and many people in the surrounding countryside are still in temporary housing, despite the nation's extraordinary recovery efforts.

For whatever reason, many MotoGP riders are thought to be unwilling to take part in the Japanese event, and Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner spoke for the doubters, with a categorical "No" regarding his participation and travel to Japan, when speaking at a Press Conference in Germany, last weekend.

Reigning World Champion, Jorge Lorenzo, indicated some time ago that he would not race at the Grand Prix Of Japan this year.
