MotoGP Test ends with Simoncelli on top

The first MotoGP Test of 2011 ended yesterday, Thursday 3rd January, with San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli posting the fastest time of the three-day test. Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo were second and third fastest respectively, with Valentino Rossi tenth.
Ducati Team riders Rossi and Nicky Hayden both set top-ten laps on the third day of the Sepang Test and, despite being limited by his still-healing shoulder, the Italian was happy with his physical progress; "I'm very happy because before coming here, I expected to do 20, 30 laps per day, and as it turns out, I did around 40 each of the first two days and over 50 today (Thursday)".
The Repsol Honda team also wrapped up the final day on a positive note following a productive three days for riders Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso.
Stoner ended the final day second fastest on the timesheet with a best lap of 2'00.811 and Pedrosa was happy that his physical condition held up as he tried out his collarbone. The Spaniard was sixth fastest on Thursday with a lap of 2'01.241, whilst his effort from Wednesday remained the second fastest of the Test overall.
Over in the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team, British rider Cal Crutchlow and team-mate Colin Edwards were satisfied with significant progress made. Although completely new to him, Crutchlow was able to quickly master the long and technical Sepang circuit and he overcame constant discomfort in his left shoulder following pre-Christmas surgery
