Last weekend, MotoGP was in Germany, for the ENI Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, at Sachsenring, whilst this coming Sunday sees the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, at the Mazda Raceway.
The German event, featured the return of Reigning World Champion, Valentino Rossi, following an early recovery from injury - and what a "return" ! Contrary to expectations, that the #46 Fiat Yamaha rider would "take it easy", during his first competitive outing since a "worst-ever crash" in June, Rossi rode through the field, with the race "Red Flagged" after a multiple pile-up, and, following the re-start, nearly took the third podium position, from a defiant, but hard pressed, Casey Stoner, with Ducati. The two riders changing places furiously during the last few laps, until Stoner managed a last minute closure, to retain his podium place.
The contest for the top podium was fierce, initially, between two Spanish riders, Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa, and Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo, the latter currently leading the 2010 Championship. Pedrosa made his trade-mark get-away from the front of the re-started grid, in part two, and was uncatchable, taking his second win of the year, and setting a new lap record, beating his own benchmark time from 2009.
