Fiat Yamaha will not field a replacement rider at Silverstone, to fill the gap created by Valentino Rossi's absence, due to injuries sustained before the Mugello round. The World Champion continues his recovery from a broken leg, with no firm prospect, as yet, of a return to the Championship competition, before the close of the 2010 season.
In missing the last race, in Italy, "The Doctor" failed to start a Grand Prix for the first time in his career, bringing to an end a record sequence of 230 successive Grand Prix starts !
Although it is thought that the Fiat Yamaha Team Garage at Silverstone will be "dressed" as though "Vale" was present, along side team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, who made a touching tribute to his rival, before the Italian race, things will not be the same without #46.
